Fun Fact: Fake Ferraris

Filed under: Fun Fact — Stephen aka DigitalEagle @ 11:44 am

I just came across this article about a ring of people selling fake Ferraris.  What are the police going to do with the confiscated cars?  Could I have one?

 Read about it here.

Fun Fact: Full Service Gas Stations — Do you tip the robot?

Filed under: Fun Fact — Stephen aka DigitalEagle @ 11:44 pm

Gas stations in the Netherlands may soon see robots pumping their gas! Read about it here:

Gas-pumping robot: what could go wrong?

If you let your imagination run, you can have a little fun:

Should they have a tip jar to the robot so that you can tip him?

What if the database gets messed up by a virus and the robot thinks the car is a SUV when it is really a station wagon. The robot, then, sticks his nozzle through the window and begins filling the toddler’s car seat up with gas. How do you get it to stop much less pay for the window?

I can see it now: the infamous lug nut virus. This virus causes the robot to use the same arm that unscrews the gas cap to remove the lug nuts while the motorists are not looking.

Or, the grafiti virus would cause the robot to scratch lots of fun messages on cars. It is actually the destructive version of the “clean your car” virus which just writes by wiping off the dust on dirty cars.

Please post more ideas, and let’s have some fun with this. (I don’t mean to poke fun at the inventors, though — it is really a great idea, and I hope it works.)

Fun Fact: Want a Tiger Named After Your Son?

Filed under: Fun Fact — Stephen aka DigitalEagle @ 10:57 pm

A woman actually saved a tiger’s life with CPR! Apparently, the baby tiger was choking on a piece of meat, and the lady was able to help the keeper resuscitate the baby. As a result, they are naming the cub after her son. Read about it:

Student’s mouth-to-muzzle saves tiger cub

Actually, I really respect this woman. You never know when CPR skills will be needed and having them ready and practiced is very important. I am sure CPR comes up when you least expect it, and you don’t get much more of an unexpected situation than this!

I guess there is a lot of information out there about CPR for animals.  Here is just one example: Animal & Bird Emergency CPR & Heimlich Maneuver.  In addition, here are some other news articles:

Google Docs Bar

Filed under: Computers — Stephen aka DigitalEagle @ 12:08 pm

Ionut Alex Chitu pointed out a new Firefox Extension for Google Documents called gDocsBar.

Great for:

  • Searching through your documents
  • Uploading documents

Features I missed:

  • Creating new documents
  • Moving documents to a folder
  • Deciding to open a document in a new tab versus the current tab

Tab Issue: When you right click on a document, you have options to open the document in a new tab or current tab, but then it goes ahead and loads it into the current tab before you choose one of the options. To get around the problem, I can just open a new tab with Ctrl+T and then click the document that I want to open.

Please let me know if I missed something.  I never did find any documentation on the  extension, which makes it easy to miss things.  I haven’t spent much time with it yet.
